UPDATE – RCMP have released the name of a man who was killed in a shooting incident in La Ronge last week.

Police say 26-year-old Jeremy Bird died after several shots were fired at a camper parked next to a residence on the Lac La Ronge Indian Band reserve in the early morning hours of Thursday.

Another man was also injured and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say the shooting incident took place on Mikisiw Drive with Bird and four other males present in the camper.

Police are asking for anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Mikisiw Drive or the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre in the late evening of Wednesday or early Thursday morning to come forward.

Police say two men were injured in the shooting in a residential area of Mikisiw Drive and one was pronounced deceased upon arrival at hospital.

Officers say the second man was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

They say they do not believe the incident to be a random shooting.

An area of Mikisiw Drive continues to be blocked off as officers investigate.

An autopsy will take place Friday morning in Saskatoon.
