The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations has provided a statement in regard to the recent Indigenous Services Canada Forensic Audit of the organization.

The audit found $34 million in questionable spending over a five-year period from 2019-2024.

The FSIN, who has been quiet on the issue over the past couple weeks, released a statement in response Wednesday morning.

The organization says they have fully cooperated with the audit and planned to make a full and complete response.

The FSIN, however, says they have not yet received a fully detailed report of the audit and say they are finding it difficult to respond to any allegations without specific details.

The Indigenous lobby group is also speaking out against assertions of $23 million of questionable funding during Covid-19 saying the FSIN had provided documentation for every expenditure during the pandemic.

The FSIN are also calling out what they say are “attacks” on the organization over the audit saying these are fuelled by “malicious intentions.”

Several First Nations chiefs held a press conference last week calling for accountability from leaders of the FSIN.

The FSIN included two documents sent out to media outlets on Wednesday.  The official statement 2025 October 1 Media Release – Forensic Audit[28] and a fact sheet in response FSIN FACT SHEET IN RESPONSE TO KPMG’S SUMMARY REPORT[92].
