An elected representative of the Metis Nation-Saskatchewan has been suspended after several voicemails he left were made public.

Last week, audio of voicemails left by Easter Region 2 Representative Brent Digness using offensive, threatening, and derogatory language were posted to social media.

In the days after, the Metis Nation announced Digness would be removed from his ministerial portfolios and an ethics committee would review the situation.

On Tuesday, MN-S announced the committe found Digness demonstrated an abuse of power and he will be suspended from his position for an indeterminate period of time.

The Metis Nation says Digness can be reinstated if completes recommended measures by the ethics committee.

His suspension is also said to be at least six months.
