The public is being cautioned by the Saskatchewan RCMP that there will be a increased police presence on the Battlefords area’s rivers this week.
As part of the investigation into Ashley Morin’s disappearance, officers from the Battlefords RCMP Detachment, Historical Case Unit (HCU), and Underwater Recovery Team (URT) of the Saskatchewan RCMP, as well as Saskatchewan RCMP Search and Rescue (SAR), will search the river and its banks throughout the week.
Ashley, who was 31 years old when she vanished, was last seen in North Battleford, mid-July 2018 and had last spoke with her family on July 10, 2018.
“Since Ashley disappeared nearly seven years ago, investigators have continuously followed up on numerous leads,” says Superintendent Josh Graham, Officer in Charge of Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Branch. “Searching the river is another step in our investigation to find out what happened to Ashley and hold the person, or persons, who took Ashley away from her family accountable.”
Battlefords RCMP is still supporting the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Branch HCU’s ongoing investigation into Ashley’s disappearance, which police suspect was caused by a homicide.
“The Battlefords is a small, tight-knit community. We know people have information about Ashley’s disappearance, and we want to encourage them to report it to police – even the smallest detail could make a difference,” says Superintendent Graham. “Advancements in this investigation wouldn’t be possible without community members coming forward. What you know could help us provide closure to Ashley’s family and friends.”
Anyone with information about Ashley’s disappearance is urged to report it to police.
