The Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) is speaking out about the appointment of Patrick Nogier as the interim chief of the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS).

In a media release sent out Wednesday afternoon the Tribal Council said their leadership was pleased to express their support for the appointment.

PAGC Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte said Nogier’s qualifications make him a good choice for such a position.

“Interim Chief Patrick Nogier’s qualifications and demonstrated dedication to community make him a strong leader to guide the Prince Albert Police Service during this transitional period,” he said.

The PAGC Grand Chief said they are looking forward to working with Nogier and Deputy Chief Farica Prince to rebuild trust, advance public safety while fostering positive relationships. Hardlotte added he hopes the Board of Police Commissioners will have a thorough and inclusive process when it comes to finding a permanent chief.

“We emphasize the importance of community consultations throughout this process to ensure that the chosen candidate aligns with the needs and expectations of our community as a whole,” he said.
