The La Ronge Ice Wolves have announced a trade.

The Ice Wolves have sent 2000-born forward Kyle Ford to the Kindersley Klippers.

This completes the trade last season that saw the Ice Wolves acquire 20-year-old defenceman Jake Hobson, who only appeared in five games with La Ronge after his season was shut down due to injury.

“To be honest with you, I had kind of forgotten about the futures part of the trade with Kindersley last year involving Hobson,” said Ford. “When I did get the call from Killer (Kevin Kaminski), we were just chit-chatting for the first bit. In my mind, that’s all it was until he did tell me, but yeah – it was a bit of a shock, for sure.”

Ford, a Calgary, AB product, had 46 points in 57 games with the Ice Wolves this past season.

“Fordo was a very big part of our success on and off the ice to bring the community back to the Mel,” said Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski. “He has great character and brings a lot of fun to the rink. When you try and go for it all and win a championship, you’re going to lose a good player. We want to wish Fordo all the best in Kindersley.”

Ford signed with La Ronge last off-season after playing his first year of junior hockey in the KIJHL with the Fernie Ghostriders.
