A man was in video court Thursday morning for a late November murder out of Pelican Narrows.

Johnston Linklater, 18, is in custody for the second-degree murder of fellow Pelican Narrows man, Antoine Custer, who was 26.

Linklater’s Prince Albert court appearance confirms he’s not eligible for bail at the moment.

Custer’s body was found in an open area in Pelican Narrows on November 30, 2015. Linklater was arrested and charged a day later.

His legal aid lawyer, Adam Masiowski, says Linklater had been serving a sentence in the community at the time of Custer’s death, and now Linklater has to serve the remainder of that sentence behind bars.

Currently, defense is waiting on information from the Crown prosecutor and major crimes.

In court, Masiowski said they haven’t yet decided if they’ll proceed to a bailing hearing once Custer is done serving time for the unrelated previous conviction because they don’t yet have disclosure from the Crown.

Linklater’s case has been set ahead a month.
