The fact that more and more women are taking leadership roles on Saskatchewan First Nations reserves hasn’t escaped the notice of a North Battleford city councillor.
The Sweetgrass band election was held Monday and Lorie Whitecalfe was elected chief.
Ray Fox is originally from Sweetgrass and notes three of the four people running for chief were women.
Fox says women provide a voice that needs to be heard in the Aboriginal community.
