Red Pheasant First Nation Chief Stewart Baptiste has been fined $750 for driving while disqualified.

He has also lost his driver’s licence for a year.

Baptiste was sentenced today in North Battleford Provincial Court after pleading guilty to the charge.

On July 29th, RCMP spotted a truck travelling at 144 km/h on Highway 4.

They pulled it over and discovered Baptiste was prohibited from driving.

Defence lawyer Eleanore Sunchild says Baptiste was in a hurry to check on his horses.

Baptiste still has another court appearance in December regarding drunk driving charges in the Biggar area.
