A new short documentary is looking at the barriers for people on social assistance trying to rent in Regina.

The film “Bridging the Gap” follows Alaina Harrison — a housing support worker at Carmichael Outreach — as she talks to both landlords and renters.

Harrison says she wanted to see the reasons behind why some landlords would not rent to people on social assistance.

She says her job is to help people find places to live, and her group wanted to find out if there were common reasons why this has been happening and if there were policy changes that could improve the situation.

The film will screen this evening at The Owl at the University of Regina.
