New Chief for Fishing Lake

A new chief has been elected at the Fishing Lake First Nation.

Five people ran for the position of chief.

Allan Paquachan won with 194 votes.

The next closest was Joseph Desjarlais with 112 and incumbent Shirley Wolfe-Keller with 101.

Thirty-three people put their names forth for the eight positions on council.

The councillors are Caroline Daigneault, Noel Desjarlais, Larry Kayseas, Sheryl Kayseass, Corbitt Sabit, Terence Sabit, Cecile Smith and Langfred Smoke.
