An RCMP officer who was charged with assault causing bodily harm following an incident that happened off-duty

has had his charges reduced to common assault and is now going through the alternative measures program.

Twenty-six-year-old Anthony Bear, originally from La Loche, got into an altercation with an adult male in Melfort November 6th.

Through the alternative measures program, the accused must take responsibility for their actions and is then assigned a task to complete that compensates the victim or community.

If successful, the accused no longer has a criminal record.
