At least four people plan to run for chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations.

Yesterday, Red Pheasant Chief Sheldon Wuttunee, who also serves as tribal chief of the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs, confirmed his desire to seek that post.

Incumbent FSIN Chief Lawrence Joseph is expected to seek re-election.

Former FSIN Vice-Chief Guy Lonechild and Muskowekwan First Nation Chief Reginald Bellerose have also announced their intentions to run.

Wuttunee says one of his main goals would be to get a better deal with the province on sharing the wealth from resources.

Another major goal for Wuttunee is to settle the issue of the duty to consult and accommodate.

Wuttunee says he brings a combination of knowledge gained in university, as well as good advice from elders.
