The Gabriel Dumont Institute and the University of Saskatchewan have teamed up to produce what’s being called the most comprehensive traditional Metis history and culture website on the Internet.

It’s called “The Virtual Museum of Metis History and Culture” and it was launched earlier today.

Today’s launch is the culmination of years of research gathering and resource production.

The virtual museum contains oral history interviews, photographs and various archival documents in state-of-the-art visual, audio and video files.

The site is intended to honour traditional Metis values, such as pride in culture and language, respect for the past and for elders, and the desire to live freely and independently.

The website address for the virtual Metis museum is www.metismuseum.ca.
