A mineral company searching for rare earth metals in the province’s north has recruited the province’s treaty commissioner to help it do business.

Great Western Minerals announced Monday that Bill McKnight has been appointed to its board of directors.

The company says McKnight’s international expertise in business and public policy will be important for Great Western as it works to implements its market strategy.

CEO Jim Engdahl says McKnight has a vast amount of experience in dealing with different groups, which will benefit his company.

“We will be having lots of interaction and business relationships with First Nations people in northern Saskatchewan, and other parts of the world, quite frankly,” Engdahl says.

The move is effective immediately.
