The Crown says it will decide in the near future whether or not to appeal a sentence given to a Fond du Lac teen for manslaughter.

The 19-year-old man was originally charged with second-degree murder following the stabbing death of a 15-year-old youth in Fond du Lac in July of last year.

The assailant, who was 17 at the time, eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

He was recently given a jail sentence of two years less a day to be served in an adult correctional facility, plus two years probation.

A Crown prosecutor in La Ronge notes the judge considered time already served in handing down the sentence.
