The First Nations University of Canada has received an endorsement from a financial institution.

This morning, TD Bank announced it was giving the school $50,000.

The money will go towards a bursary for students in financial need.

Roughly $16,000 will be set aside for each of the next three years.

University president Charles Pratt says the money comes at an opportune time, as the next few years will be crucial in recognizing the employment potential of first nations youth.

He hopes the government and funding agencies notice that there are corporations that are willing to support the FNUC.

Pratt says he commends TD Bank for its generosity, adding the students are the ones who will benefit.
