STC Committed To New West Side Bus Route

A spokeswoman for the Saskatchewan Transportation Company says they’re hoping more people begin to ride along a new bus route in northwest Saskatchewan.

Last fall, the government opened up a route stretching from La Loche to Prince Albert.

The hope was residents in Buffalo Narrows, Ile-a-la-Crosse, Beauval and Prince Albert would take advantage of the chance to visit communities they normally couldn’t access.

However, business has been slower than expected.

STC communications director Tracy Fahlman says there is currently no plan to reassess the company’s decision to open the new route.

Fahlman says in any community where the bus service is introduced, it typically takes some time before residents fully adjust to the fact that it is available.

She also notes STC has recently added new stops in Big River, Debden and Shellbrook.
