A 39-year-old man is facing several charges following a four-hour standoff with the RCMP on the Muscowpetung First Nation.

The Mounties say the incident started when they responded to a report of an injured woman at at home on the reserve Saturday morning.

The woman was taken to hospital in Fort Qu’Appelle and eventually transferred to a hospital in Regina suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The RCMP identified a suspect in the residence in question, but the man refused to come out for the police.

The force’s Emergency Response Team was called in because of the possibility firearms were in the home.

After approximately four hours, the suspect came out of the home and was taken into custody without incident.

He is expected to be charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats in connection to the injuries to the woman.

The suspect’s name will not be released until he makes his first court appearance.
