South Bay Tourism Potential Examined Carefully

The mayor of Ile-a-la-Crosse admits his village is embarking on tourism development at a much slower pace than neighbouring communities.

Max Morin is well aware of the tourism opportunities the new road link to northern Alberta could generate.

In fact, the village is entertaining proposals to develop South Bay into some sort of resort area.

Morin says two interested parties have already contacted him since the village put the word out a few weeks ago.

However, Morin says his community is deliberately taking a go-slow approach to give local people a fair shot at getting involved.

Morin believes South Bay could eventually accommodate businesses like a golf course or boat rental service.
