A large teepee at the Fort Carlton Historic Site will be home to some traditional Cree storytelling this week.

On Saturday night, Dion Tootoosis of the Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company will be sharing traditional tales and stories with the public for a little over an hour.

Fort Carlton head guide Lorraine Harder says this is the third year that they have hosted a traditional storytelling event.

She says it is always a very intimate experience for those in attendance, as the stories are read by candlelight.

She adds anyone interested in attending the event is encouraged to phone ahead, since space is very limited.

The fort is located just west of the Beardy’s/Okemasis reserve.
