The next phase of construction on a recreation centre on the Saulteaux First Nation can now begin, thanks to the federal government.

Today, the band received $115,000 in federal funding for the project.

The money is coming under the government’s Recreational Infrastructure Canada program.

In phase two of the project, the interior and exterior of the community recreation centre will be completed.

That includes everything from drywall to installing cabinets and railings.

Once it’s complete, the centre will provide a fitness room and a youth centre.

It will also house an elders’ room and a community kitchen.
