Santa Continues To Draw Big Crowds In Far North

Nearly 1,600 children in the province’s Athabasca region received an early visit from Santa yesterday.

It was part of Transwest Air’s 9th Annual Santa Takes Flight event.

Lisa MacDonald teaches at Black Lake and says children came early to decorate and waited a couple of hours for their chance to sit on Santa’s knee and receive a present.

MacDonald says the nearly 800 children were willing to wait so long because the trip means so much to them –and she says it means a lot to the adults, too.

Santa also handed out gifts in Fond du Lac, Stony Rapids and Wollaston Lake.
