The Sweetgrass, Witchekan Lake and Muskeg Lake First Nations are getting some extra help to protect water on their land.
The First Nations Agricultural Council of Saskatchewan has signed a deal on their behalf with the North Saskatchewan River Basin Council.
The river basin council will help those First Nations come up with a plan to do things like decommission abandoned oil well sites.
Coordinator Katherine Finn says they will also devise a plan to handle garbage in a more environmentally-friendly way.
The contract runs out in March.
Initial work began last year, but it was stalled until more funds were made available.
