RCMP Say People Are More Confrontational

People today – especially criminals — seem more ready to confront police than they used to be.

That’s opinion of Randy Beck, the acting superintendent of RCMP in Saskatchewan.

He says that attitude has lead to fatal shootings like the incident last Tuesday.

In that case, a man on the Clearwater Dene Nation was killed during a struggle with an RCMP officer.

Beck says RCMP officers want to solve that problem, but they they need help from the community.

Beck is filling in for Superintendent Dale McGowan, who takes office on Monday.
