The Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is joining hands with the provincial government in support of elders on the reserve.

A two-year pilot project has been announced that will see the province funding 15 beds at the First Nation’s elders care home.

Carol Gregoryk of the Prince Albert Parkland Health Authority describes the arrangement as “historic”.

She says the funding will amount to $1.5-million over two years time.

At the end of that period, the government will re-assess the project to see how things are going.
