The First Nations University of Canada has been granted $1.6 million in government funding.

The money is intended to assist the school with labour costs and other expenditures.

According to a government release, the FNUC has also been granted $400,000 to conduct a review to support its “long-term sustainability and accountability”.

FNUC chairman Clarence Bellegarde says the money will enable the school to pay its faculty members wages comparable to other universities.
