A coroner’s inquest into the shooting death of a First Nations man in Saskatoon continues today.

Dwayne Dustyhorn was shot by Saskatoon police on December 22, 2007.

The inquest has heard testimony from officers who attended the residence where Dustyhorn was.

They testified he charged at the police with knives taped to his hands, which were held over his head.

One of the officers who shot Dustyhorn says if he hadn’t shot him, one or all of the officers would have been killed, along with Dustyhorn’s girlfriend, who was also there.

Seventeen witnesses in all will be called at the inquest.

Dustyhorn’s girlfriend at the time, Loriann Worm, is testifying today.
