A high school student from Cumberland House has become the most recent northerner to receive a scholarship to attend a prestigious school in B-C.

Mika Rai Carriere has been awarded a full scholarship to attend the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Program at Lester B. Pearson United World College near Victoria.

The scholarship is worth 59-thousand dollars.

Carriere will begin the two-year program this fall.

The scholarship is privately funded by Cameco, Cogema, Mudjatik Thyssen Mining and Northern Resource Trucking.

Carriere is the third and final recipient of the scholarship, which was first awarded 4 years ago.

The previous recipients were Real Carriere, also of Cumberland House, and Ashley Dubnick of Air Ronge.
