Northern School Division Under Fire Over Release

A former mayor of Buffalo Narrows is upset with a recent news release issued by the Northern Lights School Division.

Raymond Laliberte, who also formerly sat on the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan executive, says the school division board blames parents for the fact that northern Saskatchewan students don’t do as well as southern students in academic testing.

Laliberte says while that is a problem in some cases, it’s not the whole problem — and adds the school division itself has to shoulder some of the blame.

He says he plans to change the way the NLSD thinks by running for a seat on the school division board.

Northern Lights School Division officials could not be reached for comment.
