The Liberal Party has a new constituency association president in the northern Saskatchewan riding of Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River.

Donna Kingfisher was voted in during the association’s annual general meeting in Prince Albert on Saturday.

The Sturgeon Lake band member replaces outgoing president Cheryl Maurice.

Kingfisher says she became a party member just five months ago, after hearing candidate David Orchard speak in her community.

Kingfisher says she plans to consult party brass in Regina this week before begining plans for fundraising.

The party also discussed a number of issues at the meeting, including voting problems in the north and the need for a membership drive.

Orchard was asked whether or not he would run again in the next federal election.

He says he’s committed to the party, but that it’s too early to make formal declarations.
