The Interprovincial Association on Native Employment held its annual career fair in Prince Albert today.
The fair was staged inside the urban gymnasium of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, with more than 2,000 students on hand.
The president of IANE in Prince Albert, Larry Henry, says over 60 government agencies and businesses were represented at the event.
Today’s fair included displays from the Canadian military, local police agencies, ambulance crews and business groups.
Career fairs for Aboriginal youth have become commonplace in the city as various groups try to reinforce the message that Metis and First Nations youth are the workforce of the future.
Henry says it’s a strategy that appears to be working.
