A young man from Ile-a-la-Crosse has been elected the new National Youth Executive of the National Association of Friendship Centres.

24-year-old Brennan Merasty was elected to the position earlier this month.

Merasty promises to give all of Canada’s youth “a voice at the national level”.

He will hold the office for one year.

Merasty previously served as a member of the Ile-a-la-Crosse village council from 2003 to 2006.
