Two young men from Montreal Lake died over the weekend in an apparent drowning.

The victims – 19-year-old Simeon Bird and 22-year-old Trevor Bird — were in a canoe that capsized early Friday evening at nearby Snowfield Lake.

A third man in the canoe managed to swim to shore.

The bodies of the two victims weren’t found by an RCMP dive team until early last night.

Police say no one in the canoe was wearing a life jacket.
