Merasty Touts Liberals’ Tuition Pledge

Northern Saskatchewan’s Liberal candidate is excited about an announcement today from his party on post-secondary education.
Gary Merasty says the $7-billion commitment from Paul Martin is exactly what the Desnethe-Missnippi-Churchill River riding needs, given its extremely young population and unemployment levels.
A total of $2 billion dollars will be earmarked towards helping low-income post-secondary students pay tuition fees.
Another $3 billion is being targetted at skills training and development — an area Merasty says is critical for residents of the North.
Martin has pledged a Liberal government will pay half the tuition fees of university and college students in their first and final years of school.
