A lawyer in Prince Albert says he’s relatively confident two Saskatoon cops accused of abandoning Neil Stonechild in icy weather won’t be getting their old jobs back.

Hugh Harradence won’t comment on the specifics of the case but says the Saskatoon police department was justified when it fired Brad Senger and Larry Hartwig.

The two were implicated in the recent Stonechild inquiry, which retraced the days before Stonechild disappeared.

Harradence and another lawyer were handpicked by the Saskatoon police department to represent it in its fight against Senger and Hartwig.

The hearing has been adjourned until next week.

It has been almost 15 years since the Aboriginal teenager’s body was found frozen in a field outside the city of Saskatoon.

The death was ruled accidental at the time.
