A special memorial service will take place tomorrow in Turnor Lake for late Metis senator Louis Morin.

Family members from across northern Saskatchewan will gather in the school gym to pay respects to the long-time Metis advocate, who died ten years ago.

His son, Fred, says his father worked all his life to strengthen relations between Metis and First Nations people, and believed strongly that making peace was the best way to go.

Senator Morin was also instrumental in starting Palmbere Days, an annual Metis celebration in Buffalo Narrows.

The long-time trapper also served as a member of the Clearwater Lake Metis Regional Council.

Tomorrow’s memorial service begins at 1:00 pm and is open to anyone.
