The Lac La Ronge Indian Band has formally announced its plans to mark the Assembly of First Nations’ National Day of Action this Friday.

Chief Tammy Cook-Searson says band officials have decided against their original idea of slowing down traffic and delivering pamphlets on the local highway in La Ronge.

Instead, she says they will hold an awareness walk, beginning Friday morning.

Cook-Searson says the band will begin the walk at 10:00 on Far Reserve with a police escort.

The group will then make its way to the old hospital site on La Ronge Avenue for a lunch and gathering.

She says organizers will also provide informational pamphlets on the true intent of the treaties to all those who attend.
