La Plonge River Flow Affected By Dam Construction

Residents in and around Beauval should see a rise in the La Plonge river by the end of the month.

The flow has been reduced to a trickle in some places because of construction of a nearby dam.

Don Dill of the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says a dam at the mouth of Lac La Plonge is almost complete.

He says the new dam will be able to cope with higher water levels, and will also be more fish-friendly by improving access between the river and the lake.

Dill says the old dam will be removed once the work is done.

He also cautions snowmobilers to think twice before venturing onto river ice.
