A Sweetgrass First Nation baby who underwent an 11-hour liver transplant operation last month could be home by the middle of next month.

That’s the word from Lynne Paskemin.

Her granddaughter, Diaz, was born with an extremely rare liver disease last September.

Diaz is doing so well, that yesterday, she became an outpatient.

She is living with her mom in Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton, and goes in for blood work three times a week.

Paskemin says she’s seen a big difference in her granddaughter since the liver transplant was done.

Paskemin plans to visit Diaz in about a week and learn how to administer her medication.
