A 6 week old baby boy remains in serious condition in a Saskatoon hospital after suffering life threatening wounds in an assault in North Battleford.

RCMP Sgt. Brad Kaeding says the infant was taken to hospital with serious injuries, including a fractured skull, broken collar bone and broken leg.

Kaeding says the RCMP were contacted by the Battlefords Social Services office and an investigation led to the arrest of a 26 year old man from the community, who was in court this morning facing a charge of Aggravated Assault and Breach of Probation.

Kaeding says Community Resources have taken a second child, a 20 month old girl, from the home. He says the mother of the child was not home at time of the assault.

Kaeding says names and relations of the accused to the baby or mother will not be released.
