Homeless Shelter Closes Doors Permanently

The executive director of the Prince Albert Indian/Metis Friendship Centre says she’s not sure where homeless men in the city will go this winter.

Rose Henry says her group has decided to permanently close the doors of its men’s shelter, after being unable to locate new funding.

The men’s lodge first shut down last year because of the cash crunch.

It was hoped new federal funding would come through, but Henry says all avenues have been exhausted and the city is now without a shelter.

Henry says the next move is to find someone who would be willing to lease or rent the structure.
