Inmates at the Willow Cree Healing Lodge in Beardy’s are attempting to reach out to victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.

Recently, 28 members of the institution joined forces with staff to raise $500 for relief efforts.

Kevin Kiyoshk is an Ojibway from Ontario.

He says he felt bad when he saw the pictures of the children in the devastation and instantly knew he had to do something to help.

Kiyoshk adds the other inmates quickly rallied to his cause, donating their daily wages to the effort.

The Willow Cree Healing Lodge is a facility designed to help Aboriginal offenders re-integrate back into the general population.
