Sakewew High School in North Battleford was put under lockdown shortly before 11:00 this morning after police received reports that a person carrying a firearm was heading to the school.

RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Carole Raymond says Mounties arrived on the scene immediately and started patrolling the area until they found the male in question.

Raymond says he was questioned, but no weapon was found.

While this appears to have been a case of a false alarm — Raymond says situations like these can never be taken lightly.

She notes the lockdown was a precautionary measure.
