A director with Northern Air Operations in Saskatchewan says a water bomber that was temporarily grounded is back in the air.

Dennis Renaud says that while the investigation into the crash of a plane last month in La Ronge continues, they have decided it is safe to fly one just like it.

Some time ago, the Saskatchewan government purchased four Corvair 580-A water tankers.

Two have yet to make it to the province. The third one crashed near La Ronge last month, killing a local man.

Renaud says they have checked over the last unit, and it’s good to go.

He says the craft is in training mode right now, but will be ready for active duty within a few days’ time.
