The National Parole Board has granted the partial release of Rita Galloway.

The former leader of the First Nations Accountability Coalition was convicted earlier this year of causing the death of a 16-year-old Prince Albert girl in August of 2002.

She was sentenced to thirty months behind bars.

However, it was learned yesterday she has been given day parole by the board, and could receive full parole in six months’ time.

The family of the girl whose car was hit by Galloway’s say they’re outraged by the move.

Galloway is not expected to serve her parole in Saskatchewan.
