The chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations is applauding the deal made between the Liberal minority government and the NDP.

FSIN Chief Alphonse Bird agrees with the decision by Prime Minister Paul Martin to work together with the NDP to implement the federal budget.

Bird says it’s a positive development, in the sense that the strategy in addressing First Nations issues remains on track.

Bird notes that the Liberals have established roundtable discussions on a variety of issues aimed at improving the quality of life for the Aboriginal community in Canada.
