Assembly of First Nations chief Phil Fontaine will be sitting down with former health care commission chair Roy Romanow in Saskatoon tomorrow to talk about native health priorities.

One of Fontaine’s priorities is ensuring First Nations have a seat at the upcoming First Ministers Meeting on Health next month.

Fontaine says the government and Aboriginal leaders have a chance to make signficant strides in reducing health service gaps First Nations people experience — but only if native leaders are allowed to participate in the First Ministers meeting.

Last month, the national chief presented a First Nations Health Action Plan to Canada’s premiers at the Council of the Federation meeting.

Fontaine says he and Romanow will be discussing strategy tomorrow on how to most effectively advance that action plan.
