Fond Du Lac Youth Accused Of Murder Remanded

A youth accused of murder in Fond du Lac appeared in La Ronge Provincial Youth Court yesterday afternoon and will remain in police custody until his next court appearance on Friday.
The 17 year old male was arrested following an investigation into a weekend altercation in Fond du Lac, which left a 15 year old male from Fond du Lac, dead due to injuries sustained in the incident.
The accused cannot be identified because of his age, but the presiding judge announced because of the severity of the 2nd degree murder charge, he would be sentenced as an adult if found guilty.
The youth did not acknowledge anyone or move his sightline from the floor through the entire court proceeding.
The defense argued that because this would be the first offence for the accused, a show cause hearing, along with bail conditions, and election would all be addressed during Friday’s hearing.
The accused, who was supported in court yesterday by his parents, will appear in La Ronge Provincial Youth Court Friday morning at 9:30.
