Flame Erupts in La Ronge

Northern residents are being reminded to take care when storing wood and other flammable materials near their home.

Jeanette Krayetski of Saskatchewan Environment says despite moderate fire conditions, blazes can still spring up like the one that happened in La Ronge yesterday.

Some residents were evacuated from their homes after the one-hectare brush fire erupted near a school.

Krayetski says crews quickly put out the blaze but it just goes to show the danger. She says her understanding is that the fire started in a brush-pile behind the school.
